Establishing A Profitable Rabbit Farm Using Minimal Resources
Rabbit farms are very profitable if the handlers use the resources properly. Rabbits reproduce at a very extensive rate. The right strategies should be implemented in order to take advantage of the rapid proliferation and generation of offspring. This is a good way to increase the income and profit by a large margin. The business model used should be structured towards expansion. This would be very effective especially if the resources are very minimal. Although it would require extensive time and effort, the business would grow and develop in the long term. The investors and handlers should think of the long term when using the minimal resources available.
The handlers should refrain from harvesting raw materials from the third to fifth generation. Waiting until the seventh generation of offspring would allow the handlers to retain a significant number of rabbits for mating and reproduction. This is the most common mistake committed by small farm rabbits. Harvesting too early would create a lot of long term complications. The number of rabbits left which can be used to generate litters or offspring would not be enough to compensate for the number of products initially produced. This would only reduce the income attained from the rabbit farm. The handlers should wait until the number of offspring produced is very substantial.
Since the rabbit farm has been established using only basic materials, every asset should be maximized. The rabbit breed used should be able to generate considerable mass and weight with the least amount of feeds possible. A good breed which can provide the desired results would be the meat rabbits. These would include the Californian and Champagne D’ Argent. This type of rabbits can produce the greatest amounts of meat with the least amount of feeds. Aside from the meat, other parts of the rabbit should also be utilized which includes the skin and organs. The fur can be used as raw materials for clothing items and materials.
The products attained should be presented in a unique but relevant manner in order to build consumer interest. The meat can be repackaged in the form of cutlets, fritters and steak cuts. Adding garnishes and tasty ingredients would greatly improve the quality of the meat harvested from the rabbit. The fur provided can also be altered to improve appearance and quality. This can be accomplished through cross breeding. Different colors can be produced which includes brown, gray and white. Crossbreeding rabbits with quality wool would allow the offspring to attain a thicker fur. Commercial clothing stores would pay a lot of money for quality fur.
